Sasuke abandons the village with the Sound Four to join Orochimaru. Naruto leads a retrieval team including Shikamaru, Choji, Kiba, and Neji to stop him. The other team members fight the Sound Four, with Gaara and his siblings helping kill Kimimaro. Only Naruto reaches Sasuke, who has gained new powers from Orochimaru's Cursed Mark. They engage in a fierce battle where Naruto taps into the Nine-Tails chakra. Sasuke wins the fight and leaves to meet Orochimaru. Despite losing to his friend, Naruto refuses to give up and intends to bring Sasuke back.
