While the Surprise Attack Division retreats, Akatsuki reinforcements led by Hanzo pursue them. Hanzo summons his salamander Ibuse to release a paralyzing poison mist, incapacitating the group. Mifune arrives just in time to block a fatal strike. During their clash, Mifune and Hanzo discuss their differing paths, and Mifune manages to shatter Hanzo's sickle and respirator. Recalling his past encounter with Mifune, Hanzo uses the broken blade to commit seppuku, entrusting his conviction to his rival. This act ruptures a poison sac present since childhood, causing the toxin to evaporate. Kabuto Yakushi is shocked as Hanzo's body stops obeying his commands, leading to the legendary shinobi being bound and sealed.
