Team Asuma reunites with their sensei, Asuma, while Choji loses his will to fight. Ino enters Choji’s mind to explain the significance of the earrings Asuma gave them years ago. Shikamaru recalls Asuma’s final words, scolding Choji and emphasizing that they must protect others rather than be protected. Remembering his promise to become the next Akimichi clan head and the metaphor of a butterfly emerging from a caterpillar, Choji resolves himself. He utilizes Calorie Control to enter a slimming Butterfly mode. The trio then defeats Asuma, who comments on their perfected Ino-Shika-Cho formation as he is sealed. This event occurs during the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation arc, specifically episode 13 out of 53.
