Izumo and Kotetsu arrive to restrain Kakuzu, allowing Darui to seal him. Meanwhile, Team Asuma advances to face their mentor, Asuma. The group recalls past events, including a spar with Asuma when they were genin, during which Choji discussed Asuma's kindness. Shikamaru remembers protecting his comrades, while Ino reflects on Asuma's final words, feeling responsible for guiding Shikamaru and Choji. After other ninja fail to subdue Asuma, the team engages him directly. Choji struggles to hold back his punches. A flashback reveals Choji's perspective, leading Asuma to beg the trio, particularly Choji, to stop him.
