Obito mourns Rin and vows to change the world. Madara teaches him to summon the Gedo Statue, then uses Yin-Yang Style to create Black Zetsu from White Zetsu before dying. He instructs Obito to act as Madara until Nagato resurrects him. Obito, now calling himself Madara Uchiha, travels to the Hidden Rain Village with Zetsu. He meets Nagato and his friends, tempting Nagato with promises of peace. Yahiko protects Konan and warns Obito away. Obito ignores the threat, promising to wait for Nagato daily. Later, after helping defeat the bandit Kyūsuke and recruiting his group, Yahiko names their new organization the Akatsuki.
