Shikamaru wakes from nightmares and shares limited intelligence on Gengo with Roh. Hinoko joins them, confirming that no one knows about Gengo or Fushuu Castle. The group searches Tobari and corners Konoha missing ninja Minoichi to gain information. During Gengo’s public speech, he reveals a restrained Sai, prompting the crowd to demand his death. As Gengo’s speech influences the audience, Shikamaru and Roh attempt a diversion to rescue Sai. However, Sai, having been entranced by Gengo, retaliates against them. Gengo’s words also affect Roh and Hinoko. When Gengo tries to convert Shikamaru, the ninja uses his shadow to strangle himself.
