Asuma’s squad ambushes Hidan at the bounty station, but Izumo and Kotetsu fail to kill him despite stabbing vital organs due to his immortality. Asuma warns that retreating endangers Konoha, prompting Shikamaru to realize Asuma plans to sacrifice himself. Asuma engages Hidan directly while Shikamaru distracts the enemy using Shadow Sewing Jutsu. Hidan slashes Asuma’s cheek, drinking the blood to draw a ritual circle on the ground. As Hidan steps into the circle, Asuma unleashes a Fire Style Jutsu, engulfing him in flames that alter his skin pigment. This event occurs during the Akatsuki Suppression Mission arc.
