Nue defeats Tsuchigumo with surprising ease, prompting Nurarihyon to order Gyuki and his allies to delay the powerful yokai. The identity of Hagoromo Gitsune's host is revealed to be Yamabuki Otome, the first wife of Rihan. On her deathbed, she discloses that Abe no Seimei and Sanmoto Gorozaemon used Soul Rebirth to manipulate her memories as part of a plot to eliminate Rihan. She was integrated into Rihan's household and executed him when the timing was appropriate. Meanwhile, Rikuo leads an assault alongside the Nura Clan and Tono yokai against Nue, but their disorganized attacks fail to inflict any damage on their formidable opponent.
