Amane achieves sixth place on the tests, yet insists he deserves a reward for coming in first. Mahiru denies this demand but eventually allows Amane to rest his head on her lap while she rubs his hair. When Mahiru nods off, Amane takes her to her apartment. Half asleep, she gestures for him to join her in bed, but he refuses. The next morning, Mahiru feels ashamed and angry because she has begun to crave him physically, while Amane has been purposefully misinterpreting her signs. As summer approaches, Mahiru changes into her summer attire, taking care to show Amane her bare legs without tights. This prompts him to confess that he likes her legs, and she confesses that she does, too.
