During training, Goh alerts Ash to a Geodude outbreak at Rock Tunnel. Goh captures a Geodude with Ash's Farfetch'd, triggering an alert for a World Coronation Series participant. Trainer Dozer arrives with Gurdurr to challenge Ash. Ash wins, raising his rank to 381. Trainer Rinto then appears, having watched the previous match, and challenges Ash. Rinto's Gallade defeats Farfetch'd. Rinto states they will battle again once Ash and Farfetch'd are synchronized. Ash then demonstrates his commitment to helping Farfetch'd achieve its goal of becoming a leek master.
