Ash and his companions save a researcher named Seymour from Zubat attacks at Mount Moon, where Brock captures one of the bats. Seymour guides them into a cave to locate the legendary Moon Stone, which is rumored to enhance Pokémon abilities. Inside, Ash observes a Clefairy holding the stone but refrains from catching it after Seymour explains that Clefairy prefer residing at Mount Moon. Just as Ash decides to leave the Pokémon undisturbed, Team Rocket arrives with their own intentions. The group faces uncertainty regarding whether Team Rocket will seize the stone, if other Clefairy exist nearby, and the validity of the stone's legendary powers.
