Ash defeats Dino with Palpitoad, while Iris beats Luke after Axew learns Outrage to defeat Golett. In the final match, Ash sends out Pikachu against Iris's Excadrill. Pikachu's Thunderbolt fails, and Excadrill uses Drill Run and Metal Claw to gain an advantage. Despite Pikachu countering with Quick Attack, Excadrill dodges and strikes with Focus Blast after a failed Dig attempt. This final blow knocks out Pikachu, securing the Club Battle victory for Iris.
