Ep. 36: Ash faces Olivia in a Grand Trial while Rockruff battles Lycanroc

Ash challenges Olivia for the Akala Island Grand Trial using a new Grassium Z-crystal. Rockruff insists on fighting Olivia’s Lycanroc before the main event begins. Olivia pairs Lycanroc with Probopass, while Ash teams Rowlet with Rockruff in a Double Battle. Both trainers utilize Z-moves during the intense fight. Ash’s Grassium Z-move, Bloom Doom, allows Rowlet to defeat Probopass. However, Rockruff’s fierce desire to battle Lycanroc causes it to accidentally attack Rowlet when Ash orders assistance. Horrified by its actions, Rockruff is comforted and encouraged by Ash. Rockruff then defeats Lycanroc. Olivia awards Ash a Rockium Z-crystal, noting Rockruff’s potential evolution. Tapu-Lele appears to honor the pair.
