Upon meeting an Alolan Meowth, Jessie and James are impressed by its smart behavior, though Meowth recognizes the lookalike’s self-serving tendencies. Despite Meowth’s reservations, the duo invites the new Pokémon to join Team Rocket, and it devises a strategy to capture Pikachu permanently. However, the plan fails when Alolan Meowth disappears. It later returns to Team Rocket Headquarters after gaining the Boss's favor. Jessie and James realize they have been deceived, leaving Meowth feeling jealous and frustrated by the situation.
