The group reaches Mt. Molteau and meets Trevor, who seeks a photo of the legendary Moltres. Team Rocket arrives to capture the bird, seizing Pikachu and initiating a battle near the crater. Moltres awakens, blasting Team Rocket away with Flamethrower, but mistakenly targets the heroes as threats. During the conflict, Fletchinder evolves into Talonflame to protect Ash. When Talonflame faces danger, Ash intervenes to save his partner, demonstrating his peaceful intentions to Moltres. Trevor successfully captures his desired photograph. The group reconciles with the legendary Pokémon, and Ash and Talonflame commit to training together. The adventure proceeds toward Anistar City.
