Ash and Alain defeat Mega Gyarados in their fight against Lysandre. In Lysandre Labs, Chespie is absorbed by the Megalith Crystal, transforming into a giant Megalith Zygarde. This creature moves toward Anistar City to absorb energy from the Anistar Sundial, which would cause a planetary apocalypse. To prevent this disaster, Ash, Clemont, Serena, Alain, Sycamore, Malva, Steven Stone, the Kalos Gym Leaders, and Kalos League Champion Diantha combine their efforts. They join forces specifically to defeat the Megalith Zygarde and stop the impending catastrophe.
