The Headmistress permits Lavinia to treat Sara rudely as a birthday gift. Sara follows Lavinia upstairs to clarify their relationship. After the party room is prepared, Sara escorts Lavinia inside. Lottie and Ermengarde are compelled to present gifts, while Lavinia desires Sara’s attendance to obtain her doll. The students unite behind Sara, who retains the doll as Lavinia is exposed as the class tyrant. Following these events, Sensei Dufarge encourages Sara to continue her studies.
