Ayato and Hiroko escape Tokyo Jupiter, but Futagami pursues them. Hiroko hides her blue blood from Ayato, who relies solely on himself since he cannot return to TERRA. Ayato works daily to earn travel money. The RahXephon detects a Dolem named Vibrato, forcing Ayato to battle it. Unaware of the connection, Ayato destroys Vibrato, which causes Hiroko's death and deeply traumatizes him. Futagami eventually catches up to Ayato and brings him to Helena.
