Ayato contemplates returning to Tokyo Jupiter while struggling to process the revelation that he is a Mulian, a secret kept by Kunugi and Watari. He feels betrayed by Haruka for hiding this truth. Meanwhile, Megumi anticipates a promotion and plans to confess her feelings to Souichi, but becomes heartbroken when she discovers Kim is dating him. Quon reveals to Ayato that she is also a Mulian and persuades him to travel to Tokyo with her in the RahXephon. This decision proceeds despite Haruka's objections and surprises Megumi, accelerating Ayato's journey sooner than he originally intended.
