Following a traumatic attack by rabbit-like creatures that leaves him half-maddened, Subaru regains consciousness beside Emilia in a graveyard. Overcome with anguish, he repeatedly strikes his head against the rocky ground. He is then transported to a witch’s tea party, where he finally confesses his Return by Death ability to Echidna, a secret he has never shared with anyone else. In response, Echidna begins to explain the origins of this power, revealing details about the witch who granted him this ability and set him on his painful journey. This conversation marks the first time Subaru has disclosed the true nature of his curse to another person, shifting the focus toward the mysterious witch responsible for his condition.
