Kamiya Kaoru struggles with deep depression following Kenshin's departure from Tokyo. With support from Yahiko Myoujin, Tae Sekihara, Tsubame Sanjou, and primarily Megumi, she regains her resolve. Kaoru ultimately decides to travel to Kyoto to find Kenshin. Meanwhile, Saito engages in a conflict with Sanosuke, urging him not to join the journey. Despite Saito's warning that Sanosuke would be a burden to Kenshin, Sanosuke chooses to leave on his own accord. The narrative focuses on Kaoru's emotional recovery and the diverging paths of the group members as they prepare for their respective journeys.
