Sojiro experiences a mental breakdown while fighting Kenshin, torn between Shishio’s survival of the strong and Kenshin’s protection of the weak. The duel reaches its peak with the clash of Shuntensatsu against Amakakeru Ryuu no Hirameki, resulting in Kenshin’s victory. Following the battle, Kenshin and Sanosuke prepare for the final confrontation with Shishio. Before departing, Sojiro reveals a secret passage to Yumi to help them reach Shishio’s room first. He also discloses the mechanical flaw in Kenshin’s ultimate technique, noting the extra step in his stance. As a final act, Sojiro asks Yumi to return his Wakizashi sword to Shishio, marking his permanent departure from the group.
