Luke defeats a demon, but his magical katana crumbles, leaving Cecily exposed and angry. He avoids diplomatic talks about the sealed demon Valbanill by feigning injury. Commander Hannibal Quasar interrogates a bandit about a cloaked man who creates demon contracts, but the bandit is killed by an internal demon. Hannibal discovers the treasure guard was a ruse and the treasure entered the city secretly. Luke agrees to forge a new katana for Cecily only if she pays the high material and labor costs, which she cannot afford. Consequently, Hannibal assigns Cecily to protect a young woman named Aria.
