Balsa attempts to leave the capital unnoticed with Chagum, a task complicated by the prince’s grief over leaving his family. Meanwhile, star diviners Shuga and Hibitonan discuss recent events and confirm that an evil water spirit has possessed Chagum. In response, the Emperor dispatches four secret hunters with orders to recover the prince and kill Balsa. Before beginning their journey through the mountains, Balsa takes Chagum to a hut to stay with Touya and Saya, two orphaned children she knows, while they help gather necessary supplies for their travels.
