Kazura identifies his former friend Nishio in a photograph taken by Aoi at a German delegate's residence, prompting an investigation into Nishio's location. He is subsequently captured and tortured by the Kuomintang, where he learns that Nishio serves as a spy for the Communist Party of China. Following his release in exchange for details about weapons smuggling involving the Comintern, Kazura visits Nishio's lover, Ailin, to discuss him. During the smuggling operation, Nishio evades authorities and encounters Kazura, who warns him that Ailin is waiting. Nishio ignores this warning and is later assassinated.
