Red successfully disarms Ruti, ending the Sacred Blade's influence but nullifying her Blessing. Theodora heals Tisse’s fatal wound as an act of repentance for her rigid faith in the Hero's Blessing. The group realizes that being a Hero depends on personal choices rather than divine gifts. Ruti and Tisse move to Zoltan, where Ruti receives a new Blessing that suppresses her previous Hero status. Red fully accepts Rit as his wife, and his life in Zoltan returns to normal, with Ruti intervening only during emergencies. Meanwhile, Yarandrala meets Godwin in the wilderness, who informs her of Red and Ruti's location, prompting her to rejoin the group in Zoltan.
