Shiki suffers from his wound while Akiha watches over him. The next day, Kohaku explains that the Tohno family possesses inhuman traits, with the head designated by these characteristics. When Akiha is absent, Hisui permits Shiki to enter her study, where he finds a key. He uses it to open a door leading to a dungeon cell marked with "Help Me" in blood. Shiki recalls a childhood incident involving another boy named Shiki whom he killed. Akiha becomes furious upon learning he discovered this secret and reprimands Hisui and Kohaku.
