1EP 1Kouta and Mai care for a stray kitten until a tragic accident separates them.
Mar 3, 2006Grade school student Kouta Seto spends significant time with friend Mai Makihara, who suffers from frequent asthma attacks. While walking home, they discover an abandoned kitten in a park box, which Mai names Blue. Persuaded by Mai, they relocate the cat to a nearby shrine, visiting daily to feed it. Mai eventually recognizes that her condition limits Kouta’s social interactions with other peers. Kouta agrees to join a soccer match while Mai visits Blue alone. Heavy rain falls as she travels home, leading to her hospitalization and subsequent death. Kouta blames the cat for the tragedy and intends to abandon it. However, a shinigami named Momo intervenes, offering Kouta the opportunity to speak with Mai one final time.
2EP 2Mitsuki Asano confronts mortality after Momo predicts his death
Mar 10, 2006High school student Mitsuki Asano encounters Momo in the school pool, who warns him that he will die soon. This revelation causes Mitsuki to reflect on his deceased older sister, who was more athletic and capable than him despite dying before he did. Ignoring extra lessons, he travels to his grandfather's former hometown with childhood friend Tomato to find the prize. During their search, they encounter a young boy and girl multiple times. These children eventually guide the pair to the burial site, revealing a large marble and a note left by the grandfather. It is revealed that Daniel and Momo altered their appearances to resemble Kantarou's grandfather and his childhood friend in the past, successfully leading Kantarou to the final destination.
4EP 4Chiaki learns to cook French toast and meets a shinigami after her mother's death.
Mar 24, 2006Junior-high student Chiaki Kazama manages her household after her mother's death, struggling to replicate her mother's French toast while caring for her father and younger brother Fuyuki. When her father leaves on a business trip, Fuyuki claims a shinigami visited him, causing Chiaki to fear for his life. She soon encounters the shinigami Momo, who reveals she and Daniel are merely babysitting Fuyuki at the request of Chiaki's mother. Through Momo, Chiaki reconnects with her mother and successfully learns to make French toast. The following morning, a classmate named Nakayami, who had previously expressed concern for her, meets her, and they walk to school together holding hands.
5EP 5Eko seeks Kouta's help to find her deceased sister's ghost at an elementary school.
Mar 31, 2006Junior-high student Eko Miyazaki is distressed by rumors of a ghost at a local elementary school, believing it to be her late older sister, a former teacher there. After meeting Kouta Seto, who can see spirits and shinigami, Eko asks for his assistance in locating her sister's spirit within the school grounds. Their goal is for Eko to apologize for saying she hated her sister right before her death. The pair sneaks into the school at night, where the sister's spirit eventually appears in her former classroom. Eko tearfully delivers her apology, causing the spirit to vanish. This resolution allows Eko to smile for the first time since her sister passed away.
6EP 6Sakura Kosakai navigates her spirit's return after a bridge accident and discovers she remains remembered by friends.
Apr 7, 2006Sakura Kosakai awakens confused on a street, realizing she must attend school. At school, she finds people ignore her and cannot operate a vending machine. She recalls jumping off a bridge after seeing her crush kiss another girl. Visiting the bridge, she meets Momo and Daniel. Sakura tours town to check on acquaintances, who appear fine despite only three days passing since the accident. Momo accompanies her to verify these people again, revealing Sakura is still remembered by loved ones. Momo then explains that Sakura did not die; her spirit had merely left her body during the accident. Sakura returns to her physical form and resumes her daily life.
