During the school cultural festival, SOS Brigade members participate in separate events. Yuki tries fortune telling, while Itsuki acts in a tragicomedy. Mikuru and Tsuruya run a yakisoba café with their class. Kyon seeks a quiet day but falls asleep in the auditorium. Upon waking, he finds Haruhi and Yuki on stage in bunny girl and witch attire, replacing a female rock band on vocals and guitar. Their performance causes a stir. The reason for the substitution becomes clear. Kyon realizes Haruhi is unaccustomed to public appreciation and is subsequently persuaded by her desire to form her own rock band.
