In 1532, Barcelona, Spain, an orphan named Esteban meets navigator Mendoza, who claims to have rescued him as an infant. Mendoza reveals a missing sun amulet piece, suggesting Esteban's father may be alive, and proves they met previously. He stows Esteban aboard the ship Esperanza, where he encounters Zia, a kidnapped Inca girl wearing a nearly identical sun medallion. The narrative follows their journey to the new world, driven by the hope of reuniting with Esteban's lost father and uncovering the truth behind their shared pasts. A mini-documentary on the history of the search for the Lost Cities of Gold is also included.
