Lag, Zazie, Connor, and their dingoes visit a relaxation lounge managed by Mana Jones, who explains how Dr. Thunderland Jr. and Gauche supported her potpourri research. Mana reveals that a fire caused by her falling asleep resulted in blindness, leading to her voluntary resignation. Thunderland threatens dissection out of frustration, but Gauche learns the doctor is actually concerned about her future and potential. Thunderland seeks rare helenseed for her work, with Gauche delivering a bottle that affects Mana. When the Bioscience Advisory Panel votes to terminate her contract, Mana and Gauche present her request to continue. The chairman challenges them to complete her research within a week to prove the results, or she must leave.
