After sensing Rui’s distress, Ran and Rin arrive at school to find him unconscious on the roof with a masked figure. A fight breaks out, and Midori intervenes, causing the attacker to invade her mind. Midori’s telekinetic counterattack fails, throwing her off the roof, but Ran saves her. Witnessing Midori’s traumatic memories of maternal rejection, Ran vows to befriend her. Ran then attacks the masked woman, revealing her identity. The woman briefly loses control, explaining that her former lover’s abandonment during a fire drove her to revenge. Rui’s awakening allows Ran to use her enhanced powers to defeat the attacker. Midori thanks Ran for preventing her from suffering the same fate.
