Ran and her companions locate the Emahi grass, but Ran narrowly avoids a collision. The driver, Nakai, is hospitalized, prompting Ran, Rui, and Midori to visit him. They examine his possessions and determine that their former teacher, Ohara, is central to the recent strange events. Ran hears voices from the grass and leads the group into the forest. Midori is attacked by the vegetation and nearly dies, but Ran unexpectedly uses her abilities to save her. The grass subsequently wilts and vanishes, and their teacher departs shortly thereafter.
