Jun 21, 2008Junior-high student Ran Isozaki begins hearing voices from a mysterious girl while experiencing strange events in town. She confides in her childhood friend Rui Ayase, who recalls past instances of her ability and explains her two cats. Ran also sees memories of the girl’s traumatic childhood and abandonment. At school, homeroom teacher Momoko Ōhara introduces the girl as transfer student Midori Naha. Midori sits at the back and telepathically tells Ran that friendship is pointless. Midori tests Ran’s abilities, leading to a confrontation that reveals Ran’s telekinesis. The group discovers that Rui can suppress Ran’s unrefined powers, stabilizing her abilities during their interactions.

A man is coming to buy the inn from him and his mother tomorrow, but he does not want to sell. Midori and Ran continue to investigate the ghosts, and find clues of how someone could make people think ghosts were around due to hidden passages near the outdoor bath. While there, they actually do see a couple ghosts, however.

Aug 2, 2008Ran and her companions proceed with their investigation into the reported hauntings, gaining entry to the isolated wing where an elderly man passed away several months prior. Rui discovers significant evidence regarding the true nature of the incident. As a man named Shiroyama attempts to purchase the inn, Midori and Rui work to determine his potential connection to the previous death. Their efforts reveal that Shiroyama was responsible for the man's demise, leading to his arrest by the police. Following this resolution, the supernatural rumors surrounding the establishment cease to circulate.

This intervention prompts Yamashita to seek her out that night, allowing him to finally offer a proper farewell.

After placing the statue on the stump, Ran, Rui, and Midori witness the reunion of Iratsuko and Iratsume.

The girl communicates through Ran, revealing herself as a snow fox Noriko helped in childhood. The fox returns a pendant lost years ago, fulfilling its desire to reunite with Noriko.
