Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Gurren-hen

A man is unaware of the path ahead. In a future where humans have dwelled underground for centuries, two young men live in a village—Simon, who is quiet and trusting, and Kamina, who believes in a world above. Their lives change when a collapse reveals a massive Gunmen and a woman named Yoko, who carries a powerful rifle. They emerge from the ruins with a mecha called Lagann, which Simon discovers underground, and travel to the surface. The surface is not as Kamina imagined; it is governed by the Spiral King and his beastmen army. With Yoko and others, Kamina and Simon confront the Spiral King, seeking to transform a bleak reality into a hopeful future using Gurren Lagann.
