Flashbacks reveal Kal-El’s history as crown prince Karl La Hire of Balsteros, where a revolution led by Nina Viento destroyed royal ships and executed his father. After his parents’ deaths, he was adopted by a mechanic who faked his death. Present-day students meet Ignacio and undergo dogfighting drills despite Sonia Palez’s objections. Rumors of Karl’s revenge plot against Nina circulate, unsettling Kal-El. During a training mission, Kal-El and Claire become separated from their squadron and are forced to perform a water landing after losing their way.
