Ep. 7: Chiharu and Mitsuo face an ambush while providing recon for the Isla bombing campaign.

The Sky Clan’s initial invasion fails, prompting Admiral Melze to launch a full-scale bombing of the enemy headquarters. While forces celebrate at the Holy Spring, students undertake their first reconnaissance mission. Claire and Ignacio are removed from the group by Claire’s countess, who appoints Ignacio as her bodyguard to protect their lives. Isla planes easily defeat the Sky Clan forces but pursue a decoy fleet. Chiharu and Mitsuo identify a superior enemy carrier force and relay this intelligence, revealing the ambush. Emboldened, they continue monitoring the new threat. Mitsuo is shot down and badly wounded, ordering Chiharu to escape via parachute before he commandeers her plane and dies. The training pilots learn of the ambush and prepare to defend the island independently as enemy bombers approach.
