Ep. 3: Yamato lands on Jupiter's floating continent and destroys it with the Wave Motion Cannon

On occupied Pluto, Schultz rejects Gantz's order to pursue the Yamato, preferring caution. After a space warp malfunction damages the main engine, Captain Okita lands the Yamato on a floating continent orbiting Jupiter for repairs. While Okita sends an away team to collect samples, Executive Officer Shiro Sanada determines the landmass is an artificial Gamilan construct. Raleta, commander of the local resupply base, receives orders from Gantz to send four combat ships against the Yamato. The Yamato destroys three of the attackers and departs. Okita then orders Daisuke Kodai to test the Wave Motion Cannon on the continent. Kodai fires, obliterating the entire structure. While Nanbu celebrates the weapon's power, Okita reminds the crew that their armaments are strictly for self-defense, expressing doubt about the morality of their actions.
