In 1998, Ange reaches Rokkenjima with Mammon and Sakutaro but is attacked by Kasumi and her men, who destroy Maria's diary. Ange detects Eva Beatrice manipulating Kasumi and summons the Sisters of Purgatory despite heavy magical resistance, killing the attackers. Eva Beatrice resurrects the human Eva to shoot Ange, but Mammon destroys the weapon, enabling Ange to kill Eva and resolve her anger. Afterwards, Ange meets Bernkastel, who reveals she is merely a piece in the game between Battler and Beatrice. Despite this revelation, Ange remains determined to save her family from their tragic fate.
