Mendo’s henchmen find his pet octopus Akumaru missing during a count, prompting Mendo to order a search before sleep. A frightening apparition strikes during the night. One week later, Ataru, Lum, Ten, and Shinobu visit Mendo to inquire about his absence. He eventually confesses that a ghost octopus resides on his head. Sakura requests Ataru’s assistance in helping the spirit of a girl named Nozomi find peace. This mission proves to be a significant challenge for Ataru, even though Lum consents to him going on this final date with the ghost.
