Ep. 9: Ami joins her new husband Tōru for her brother-in-law Takeshi's birthday celebration at her in-laws' home.

Ami and Tōru attend the birthday dinner where Ami feels warmly welcomed by her new family. Although she notices Takeshi is not the center of attention, she dismisses the oddity and sleeps. At 2 AM, Tōru wakes her for a surprise party. Strange noises lead Ami to a shoji door where she witnesses a silhouette splitting open to reveal a creature. Tōru's mother invites her in, revealing that Takeshi has shed his skin, which is now gray, slimy, and scaly. The family explains this shedding is a birthday tradition and insists Ami will become like them since she is now family. Cornered and in disbelief, Ami looks in a mirror and sees her own skin turning gray and scaly.
