During a school sports event, Nozomu Itoshiki attempts to categorize activities into liberal arts, science, and athletics, though he concludes the first segment athletically. He later criticizes Fukubukuro sales as a method for disposing of leftovers, while Kafuka Fuura argues that such items are beneficial and should be utilized more. Consequently, Nozomu and Majiru suffer food poisoning from leftover curry rice provided by a mysterious woman who is revealed to be Kafuka. In a separate incident, Ai Kaga gives an umbrella to Tarō Sekiutsu but feels guilty for expecting a compliment. Nozomu sympathizes with her, blaming society for face-saving patronage. This leads Ai to adopt a tsundere attitude, denying any reason for her favor to avoid further guilt.
