A forty-five-year-old office worker named Sasaki finds brief relief from his stressful job through smoking and the occasional smile from a supermarket cashier named Yamada. After one difficult day, he searches for her but fails to find her. Instead, he is approached by an attractive woman who invites him to smoke. Thinking he has found a new companion in the playful Tayama, Sasaki doesn't recognize her from before.
