Rick reveals he was forced by the US prosecutor committee to steal a gun with Richman's fingerprints on it which was used to frame him for the murder of Cashanova, who was actually killed by Gale. Turnbull claims he wasn't involved, but Edgeworth reports in and verifies Turnbull's involvement in the trial, having obtained the truth from the committee. Turnbull reveals that he killed Gale when he attempted to blackmail him and was forced to create the fake scenario when the takeover occurred. After Richman is declared not guilty, he intends to die alone by setting off a time bomb in the dining car, but the committee offers him a fair retrial, convincing him to safely join the others before the bomb goes off.
