Ep. 8: Down-on-his-luck detective Ash investigates the mysterious hacker Trinity in a dystopian future.
In a dystopian future, private detective Ash, inspired by hard-boiled characters Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe, receives an anonymous call to find a hacker named Trinity. Previous investigators failed, with one committing suicide, another going missing, and a third going insane. Ash deduces Trinity’s location using phrases from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and meets her on a passenger train. Trinity removes a surveillance bug from Ash’s eye, planted by Agents during a previous exam. Three Agents appear, leading to a shootout. An Agent attempts to possess Ash, forcing Trinity to shoot him to prevent the Agent from manifesting. Ash is wounded, and the pair part amicably. Trinity escapes through a window, telling Ash he could handle the truth. Agents enter the car, finding Ash armed but facing certain death as his lighter flame extinguishes.
