Cis engages in a training simulation set in feudal Japan, fighting as a samurai woman. After defeating enemy cavalry, she encounters Duo, whom she recognizes. They duel to test their skills, during which Duo disarms her and questions her commitment to their current reality. He reveals he has blocked the operator's signal and urges Cis to return to the Matrix with him, claiming the machines are approaching. Cis refuses, believing he has betrayed humanity, and attempts to exit the simulation. Duo attacks her, but she catches and breaks his sword, killing him. He expresses his love before dying. Cis wakes up to find the encounter was a test. Kaiser confirms she met the objectives, but she punches him in frustration that Duo was not real. Kaiser remarks that she passed except for that final reaction.
