Set during the six-month gap between The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded, this short features Neo (Keanu Reeves) and the Kid (Clayton Watson). Formerly Michael Karl Popper, the disaffected teenager questions reality via an online chat. After scribbling Neo and Trinity's names at school, he receives a warning call from Neo about approaching Agents. Chased through the high school, the Kid jumps from the roof, trusting Neo. At his funeral, a teacher suggests the world is not real. The Kid then awakens in the real world, where Neo and Trinity (Carrie-An Moss) observe his achievement of self-substantiation, a feat previously thought impossible. Neo clarifies that the Kid saved himself, and the story concludes with the online reply, "You are not alone."
