Following Toujuurou’s death, Haruna enlists Kirishima to safeguard Makie from military forces. She employs nanomachines to create a decoy, diverting attention while Kirishima escapes with Makie. Soldiers uncover the ruse and pursue Makie, who is distressed by her weapon’s destructive potential. Cornered, Haruna calls for assistance, and Iona responds. Meanwhile, Gunzou informs Kamikage that the I-401 crew was hired solely to deliver a vibration warhead to the US and will act independently. After the army withdraws, Iona transports the trio to the submarine. Haruna asks Makie to become their friend, and she agrees. As the I-401 heads to Iwo Jima, Takao wakes in a room where a mysterious voice questions her intentions.
