Ep. 8: Flashback reveals Tenkai's ninja duel proposal while Hachiro evades traps and allies with Gobo against Joujin.

A flashback to Edo Castle eighteen years prior shows Tenkai suggesting a ninja duel to the shogun to resolve succession disputes and prevent war. In the present, Bunnoshin attempts to capture Hachiro using archers led by a man with sensitive hearing, but Shichigen’s crickets distract the commander, allowing Hachiro to destroy the group with his Dojutsu. Subsequent traps involving riflemen under Gorouza the Hawk also fail due to Shikibu’s ambush and Hachiro’s abilities, leading Gorouza to shoot himself. Hachiro rejects his comrades' assistance to seek revenge alone. He later meets Gobo, Tenkai’s ninja monk, who proposes an alliance against Joujin and his new Rain forces. Meanwhile, Utsutsu and Rui investigate the Murakumo, encountering disguised Rain fighters at Suruga and fighting them off with their unique skills.
