During the Akamatsu Industries Christmas celebration, the team reflects on their survival thanks to Betterman. Weeks prior, neuronoids sent by ModeWarp betrayed the group, but Betterman defeated them. Kankel, the slayer of the Somniums, posed a greater threat, yet Seeme sacrificed herself to allow Betterman to mutate into his Aqua form and rescue Keita and Hinoki. Now, the group enjoys the holiday with drinks. Kaede and Yanagi make a special announcement that boosts morale. Keita invites Hinoki to his empty home to attempt a kiss. The sudden move frightens Hinoki, causing him to flee down the stairs and directly into the arms of an unexpected and unwelcome adversary.
